On January 1st, 2026, Rik Groteboer started their PhD at the interdisciplinary research hub on Digitalization and Society (iHub) of the Radboud University under the EGOS project, focusing on the European legislation on content moderation and platform governance. Specifically, Rik’s research pays attention to the formal institutionalisation of ‘trusted flaggers’ and legal aspects surrounding the implementation of rules on ‘trusted flaggers’ in practice.
The study is supervised by Prof. Frederik Zuiderveen Borgesius.
Rik graduated from the Legal Research master’s programme at the University of Groningen in 2024. Aside from platform regulation, his research interests include intellectual property law, and law at the intersection of technology. Before joining the EGOS-Project, Rik worked at a law firm specialising in intellectual property, privacy and IT law as a paralegal.
